Because of its stunning beaches and vibrant bars, a small seaside town in Thanet, called Margate. has been labelled the UK’s very own Ibiza. Every year, millions of people visit the Spanish island to enjoy the renowned nightlife and magnificent weather. The Thanet town of Margate, though, might be providing the Balearic Island a run for its money. The seaside community on Kent’s north coast is home to a variety of hip bars and restaurants where locals and visitors can enjoy the summer sun on the beach. The coastal town’s beaches are crowded with visitors in the summer, much like Ibiza, and long-term resident Jonathan Edwards even referred to the region as “tropical.”
Margate, where the 39-year-old textile artist has resided for eight years, is described as “cool and hip.” He said to The Sun: “After having a few drinks, you can definitely blink and think it’s Ibiza when it’s summers and you’re sitting on the seafront or in a bar and the sun is blazing. According to society publication Tatler, while Ibiza is well-liked by the artistic community, Margate has also demonstrated this in recent years, which has prompted comparisons between the two places. Margate, however, is not Ibiza, and it does not frequently experience temperatures in the 30 oc range that come with traveling to the Spanish island. Some locals do draw attention to glaring disparities. Dan McCusker, 28, who works in a skate shop on the beach, acknowledged that the town is not as nightlife focused as Ibiza. Dan, who has spent his entire childhood in Margate, stated: “I believe Ibiza is extremely different… Margate is primarily a brunch town. Although there is a lot of tourism here, it doesn’t have the same wild party scene as elsewhere.
However, there aren’t many major clubs here. The beaches are constantly crowded throughout the summer. Margate, according to Helen Preston, 58, is a growing community with a ton of things to do for both locals and tourists. Although it is an imaginative location, more should be done to enhance its appearance. It could probably be the new Ibiza if it were cleaned up a bit “She spoke. It’s one of the hottest spots in the nation throughout the summer, the 41-year-old, who already has lived in the city since 2014, chimed in.”
The father of three who runs a tequila and mescal bar stated, “Every town has its ups and downs and that’s part of the attraction.” However, not everyone finds the comparison to be favourable.
Although there are some significant distinctions, there may have been some crossover between the Spanish party island and the southeast coast. Ibiza is quite distinct. Margate is primarily a brunch town. Although there is a lot of tourism here, it doesn’t have the same wild party scene as elsewhere. Although there aren’t many large clubs here, the beaches are often crowded in the summer. There is a ton lot do in Margate, and it has a fantastic feel. Although it is an imaginative location, more should be done to enhance its appearance. It surely could be the new Ibiza if it were a little tidier.
